Twomunicipal mayors one current and one former are looking to make the jump to provincial politics for the Nov. 30 election.

Mount Pearl Mayor Randy Simms will announce next week he is seeking the Liberal nomination in Mount Pearl North.

That seat is currently held by deputy premier Steve Kent.

In Labrador West, former Labrador City mayor Graham Letto is set to announce next week he is seeking the Liberal nomination.

Labrador City Mayor Karen Oldford has also said she's seeking the Liberal nomination in Labrador West. (CBC)
Letto has previously run for the provincial Progressive Conservatives and federal Tories, but started working for the Liberals in 2011.

However, Letto won't be alone in the competition to run.

Current Mayor Karen Oldford is also interested in running for the provincial Liberals.

Both Simms and Letto have been working for the Liberal caucus in recent months.
