1 man dead, another injured in 'targeted' Surrey double shooting

Paramedics rushed one man to Surrey Memorial Hospital, who is expected to survive his severe injuries. The other victim was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital, but could not be saved.

Police say a double shooting in Surrey B.C. early Saturday morning is believed to be"targeted."

One man is dead and another was injured, but his wounds are not life threatening, said police.

"I want to reassure the public that their safety is of paramount concern," said Sgt. Stephanie Ashton, media relations officer for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Both victims were inside a car, when attacked in the15000-block of 66A Avenue, around1 a.m. PT.

The road is expected to remain closed into the evening as police continue to investigate.

Surrey RCMPStaff Sgt. Dale Carr said police do nothave any suspects in custody.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is in charge of the case, along with the Surrey RCMP Major Crime Section.

The identities of the victims have not been released.
