Moncton man takes Elf on the Shelf to a whole new level

One Moncton family has taken the Elf on the Shelf to a whole new level. Megan Wynberg has been posting photos of her own real-life elf on Facebook - an elf who happens to be her husband, Joe Wynberg - on the roof, dangling upside down outside a window and on top of the family fridge.

What started as a lark for Joe Wynberg has grown into a social media sensation

A family inMonctonhas taken the Elf on the Shelf to a whole new level.

Megan Wynberg has been posting photos of her own real-lifeelf on Facebook an elf who happens to be her husband, Joe Wynberg.

The Elf on the Shelfis a holiday tradition for many families. The elf is a magical creature who moves around the house each night, assigned by Santa to keep an eye on behaviour.

Dressed in red with rouged cheeks anda white-trimmed elf's cap, Wynbergposes as a real life elfon the roof, dangling upside down outside a window and on top of the family fridge.

He makes snow angels in a pile of flour on the kitchen floor, and, perhaps in retaliation for that naughty act, he is duct-taped to the wall.

Megan Wynberg, speaking to Information Morning Moncton, said the whole thing started as a joke.

"We have a lot of friends who do it [Elf on the Shelf], and we don't have an elf ourselves," she said.

From there, they beganthinking up scenarios and posting them to Facebook to amusefriends and family, though not their children.

"The kids don't see it," said Megan. "It is the adult Elf on the Shelf, our kids have no idea ... butthere may be some explaining to do when that happens."

Joe Wynberg says he and his wife don't plan too much in advance, "We figure it out as the day goes along and then after the kids go to bed the work begins."

The Wynbergs says some oftheir friends are trying to get the attention of producers on the Ellen show and their Facebook photos are already causing a bit of a sensation on social media.

"It's nice to see people have a laugh," said Megan. "I can assure you we laugh as much as everyone else every night."
