Agrium worker seriously injured underground at Vanscoy, Sask., potash mine

Operations have been suspended at the Agrium potash mine in Vanscoy, Sask., after a worker sustained very serious injuries while working early Monday morning.

Todd Steen, general manager of the Agrium mine said a worker was seriously injured Monday at around 2:45 a.m. CST. Theemployeegot caught between two pieces of mobile equipment while working underground, Steensaid.

Emergency services was called and the person was transported tohospital in Saskatoon. Steen added the company is waiting to hear about the worker's condition.

The mine, located about30 kilometres southwest ofSaskatoon,was closed all day Monday and will remain closed Monday night.

About 775 workers are employed at the mine.
