No incumbent in StormontDundasSouth Glengarry

Longtime Conservative MP Guy Lauzon has retired, leavingStormontDundasSouth Glengarry without an incumbent.

The southeastern Ontario seat, which includes Cornwall and the Mohawk community of Akwesasne, has been Conservative ever since Lauzon beat out hisLiberal predecessorin 2004.

About 20 per cent of its residents are francophone.

Throwing their names in for the open seat are personal trainer and 2015 Greencandidate in Hamilton Raheem Aman;Conservative Eric Duncan, who was mayor of North Dundas at age 22 and works in his family's trucking business;Liberal candidate Heather Megill; teacher Kelsey Schmitz for the NDP; and farmer Sabile Trimm for the People's Party.

Candidates are included in this riding profile once they've beenlisted as a confirmed candidateby Elections Canada, chosenas the winner of a nomination contestor who were the chosen candidate by a party that got at least one per cent of the national popular vote in 2015.

Candidate questionnaires

CBC Ottawa sent every candidate running in eastern Ontario or western Quebec seven questions via their party or a publicly available email address.

They were asked to stick to 25 to 100 word answers, depending on the questions.
