Conservative MPMichael Barrettwill retain the seat he just won less than a year ago inLeedsGrenvilleThousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.

With 90 per cent of the polls reporting, Barrett had 49 per cent of the vote. In second place, Liberal Josh Bennetthad 26.1 per cent, andMichelle Taylor of the NDPhad 14.5 per cent.

Voters inLeedsGrenvilleThousand Islands and Rideau Lakes were just at the polls in December, seven months afterConservativeMP Gord Brown died of a heart attack.

Barrett, a military veteran and former municipal councillor, kept theseat in Conservative hands, as it hadbeen since 2004.

The riding sprawls north from the St. Lawrence River, encompassing communities such as Brockville and North Grenville.

Bennettchallenged this time, along with Green Party candidateLorraine Rekmans, Taylor of the NDP and Evan Hindle of the People's Party of Canada.
