Shin-chi's Canoe

Shin-chi is six years old and is about to go a new school the residential school his sister already attends. As they travel to the school together, Shin-chi's sister tells him about all the things they must remember about their home. Shin-chi keeps those memories close as he spends the year at school, lonely and working hard.

Shin-chi's Canoe won the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award in 2009.
