This blog's taking a bit of a recovery lap but it'll be picking up the pace again in a couple of weeks. There won't be much comment moderation until then.

In response to Kathleen:

Strap on joggers, and walk. Keep doing it frequently. Then start doing a walk-jog program such as the couch to 5K program at www.coolrunning.com, or another beginning running walk/run program. Do some mild weight training (Curves' program is excellent for beginners, and most gyms have learning classes) while you are waiting for your heart to catch up.

I do question why you find the "strap on your runners and jog" statement offensive. The spirit of the comment is, in my judgement, to encourage you (and everyone else, of all sizes) to not wait, and get active in the simplest way possible.

Good luck

I'm sure you don't really want product endorsements here BUT in response to Kathleen's comments I would urge any plus-size women who are discouraged by the lack of sports bras in the right size to check out Enell.com. I started running at 240 pounds, size 42DD and while I was breastfeeding my infant son. With this bra, you don't even MOVE. This bra was the reason I could run. Check it out.

I am a non athlete - since I was young. I was fat as a child and semi fat as an adult (bmi about 27) I resent your easy answers. I cannot jog/run. My top is 45 nches and they bounce....a lot... they do not make the appropriate fat sports bras for a 36 G.

So... although I support your efforts... please do not generalize. If I was a 34 A... jogging and putting on my runners would not be offensive...

Get a grip. This is for everyone... please be inclusive and understand that being fit is much easier if you start off fit!

So...your advice for a majorly endowed women in her mid fourties with a heart condition is.....?

Get the whole picture before you say... "strap on runners and jog" Would that the world was that easy.
