The potential environmental impact of the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline is going under the microscope today. The panel reviewing the project in Prince George will examine emergency planning. Officials with Enbridge say they'll use the hearings to build public confidence. However opponents are ready to fight the project that would transport oil from Alberta to a port in Kitimat for export to Asia.

The Kamloops RCMP are investigating after someone shot at a number of homes in Sahali with a pellet gun. RCMP, who were called around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, found the shots had smashed a living room window, hit car windshields and riddled a motor home. Staff Sergeant Fran Bethell says an area resident reported hearing a vehicle but no eyewitnesses have come forward.

A man from Nanaimo has been confirmed as the first B.C. victim of tainted Alberta beef.
He was hospitalized in mid September with symptoms from E.coli, but has since recovered.
Provincial health officials say lab results show he was carrying the same strain of the virus that has made 10 other people across Canada sick.
