Josephine Jobert

Josephine is a mixed race actress of French, Martinique, Spanish and Chinese origin. She comes from a large family of artists for generations (singers, actors, authors, musicians, directors of photography and more).

She learned the craft of acting from her family while growing up in theater, on dubbing sets, television and film.

At the age of twelve, she moved to Canada where she lived for eight years. it is in the Anglo-Saxon way that she learns acting, singing and dancing. She also learned to speak English, which she now speaks fluently. She moved back to France in 2005, at the age of twenty, and quickly got her first lead role in the youth series "Nos annes pensions". This series combining comedy and music was an instant success with children and teenagers, attracting more than 750,000 viewers each week for three entire seasons. A real success for a series that was then broadcasted on a national French channel.

At the same time, Josephine becomes the female lead in the series Foudre ("Summer Crush") which received, in 2008, the award for the best youth series at the TV Fiction Festival of La Rochelle and for which the actress was nominated as "best actress" at the TV Festival of Monte Carlo, in 2009. By playing the strong character of Alice, Josephine still marks, today, a whole generation of fans and is known even more by the general public in France and internationally because "Foudre" has long been among the three most exported French series in the world.

Josephine takes on many different roles such as Roxanne the cabaret dancer in "Sous le soleil de St-Tropez", Kanelle the crazy student in "Villa Karayib", Victoire the lawyer in "CUT" or Maria Chiara the singer in "Le temps est Assassin".

It is in 2015, that she obtains the female lead in the British series Death in Paradise, which marks a turning point in her career and strengthens her popularity internationally. The program is broadcast in 236 territories, dubbed in several languages and the episodes are watched every night by more than 9 million people in the UK. A great success that also opens the doors of the American soil.

Recently, she was offered a lovely role in the English series "Concordia" produced by Frank Doelger ("Game of thrones") and filmed in Italy. After having worked for seven years mostly on the English front, Josephine is now back on the French screens. Strengthened by her childhood amongst a family of artists, the eighteen years of professional experience as an actress, the numerous trips to the four corners of the world, as well as the collaborations with various directors and teams from different countries, Josphine has now joined forces with her mother, who has been writing ever since she was a child, to tell her own stories and start creating films and series.
