Laura Chapin

Laura Chapin is co-host of the Charlottetown morning radio show, Island Morning, with Mitch Cormier.

She got her start with CBC in Vancouver in the mid 90s, as a writer-broadcaster and co-host of the morning show, Daybreak North, in Prince Rupert.

Laura moved to Charlottetown in 2001 thinking she would only be on PEI for a couple of years, but fell in love with Island life. She started as the PEI correspondent for Maritime Noon, and then became a multi-platform journalist with the PEI newsroom. Laura also co-created the summer replacement show, Lost and Found, which aired for two summers.

She won a national RTNDA for her coverage of food insecurity on PEI, and helped the station win an Atlantic Journalism Award for the end of bootleggers in Charlottetown.

Laura has a B.A. in Archaeology/Anthropology from the University of Toronto, and a Masters in Journalism from Western.

In her off hours, Laura is an active member of PEI's arts community, involved in theatre, dance and storytelling. She also is an avid reader who loves to travel and take too many photographs.
