THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW CROWNS THE SEASON 4 WINNER

Apr 04, 2021

Milton, Ontario’s Raufikat Oyawoye wins The Great Canadian Baking Show Season 4 Title

Raufikat Oyawoye, 35, an IT support engineer from Milton, Ontario, won THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW title and commemorative cake plate on tonight’s finale. Meanwhile, Markham, Ontario’s Mahathi Mundluru and Winnipeg, Manitoba’s Tanner Davies exited the tent for the final time.

The three finalists returned to the Baking Tent for the final showdown to determine who would be crowned winner of THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW. For the Signature Bake, they put their own spin on a chilling Ice Cream Bombe Cake, followed by The Technical Challenge which saw the bakers try their hand at a Gâteau St-Honoré, a French dessert combining puff and choux pastries. For the final Show Stopper of the season, the bakers pushed their creativity to the limit with a Treat Trolley — a rolling array of pastries, pies, cakes and cookies.

A naturally talented baker, Oyawoye has a love of decadent flavours inspired by her mother’s kitchen back home in Nigeria. Her work in engineering gives her a scientific precision, infused with the flavours and techniques from her home country. Throughout the course of Season 4 she earned the title of Star Baker twice, during the first-ever Botanical Week and Fancy Dessert Week. Memorable bakes included her artfully decorated fruit tarts and elegant two-tiered Hibiscus Raspberry Floral Cake for Botanical Week, and her decadent - and crunchy - Tropical TangCrunch Cake for Fancy Dessert Week. Oyawoye wowed the judges in the finale episode with her “Sweet Wedding Dreams” themed Treat Trolly.
