The Polaris Music Prize has revealed its 2022 winner. (Polaris Music Prize)

The 2022Polaris Music Prize winner celebration will take place on Monday, Sept. 19,at 8p.m. ET(5 p.m.PT), marking the prize's first in-person event since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Hosted by CBC Music's Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe, it will take place at the Carlu in Toronto, andbe live-streamed on CBC Gem, CBC Music's Facebook, TikTok,YouTube and Twitter pages and globally at cbcmusic.ca/polaris.

Nine of the 10shortlisters will perform this year, including Pierre Kwenders,Lisa Leblanc,Hubert Lenoir,Kelly McMichael,Ombiigizi,Ouri,Shad,Snotty Nose Rez Kids and Charlotte Day Wilson. While shortlister Destroyer isn't able to attend, the band will have Fresh Pepper, which is the culinary-themed duo ofAndr Ethierand Joseph Shabason, perform an interpretation of itswork. 2021 winner Cadence Weapon will also perform, and he'll announce this year's winner at the end of the night.

The 10 albums on the Polaris 2022short list are:

  • Jos Louis and the Paradox of Love, Pierre Kwenders.
  • Chiac Disco, Lisa LeBlanc.
  • Pictura de ipse: Musique directe, Hubert Lenoir.
  • Waves, Kelly McMichael.
  • Sewn Back Together, Ombiigizi.
  • Frame of a Fauna, Ouri.
  • Tao, Shad.
  • Life After, Snotty Nose Rez Kids.
  • Alpha, Charlotte Day Wilson.

For the second year in a row, CBC Music presentsShortlist Summer, a series of special programming on radio, digital and social platforms leading up to the Polaris gala to celebrate this year's shortlisted albums.

Shortlist Summerconsists of Shortlist Shortcuts, a weekly series on CBCMusic.ca that beganMonday, July 18, andhighlights one important gateway song from each of the nominated albums, as told by the shortlisted artists. Shortlist Summer also includesThe Ten, an hour-long, weekly radio series airing Sunday eveningson CBC Music and CBC Listen at 6 p.m. (6:30 NT), airing from July 17 toSept. 18. Hosted by A. Harmony, each instalment focuses on one of the 10 shortlisted albums in the lead-up to the 2022 Polaris Music Prize winner announcement.
