Bjork, the Icelandic artist who has achieved commercial success with her unique sound, is about to release her most creatively ambitious project.

Called Biophilia, the trailblazing album is designed to be released through applications on an iPad.

Each song on Biophilia has a stand-alone app that includes audio, lyrics, animation and an interactive component that allows users to explore the theme and musical structure of every song.

In an interview with CBC's Q cultural affairs show, Bjork says her work is inspired by nature and technology now has the potential to convey those ideas more fully than ever before.

The album is released Oct. 11, and she will follow that with a world tour. The interview continues on theQ website.
