6 escape from garage fire in Steinbach

Steinbach firefighters were called to 1 Cypress Place Sunday at around 8:30 p.m. in response to a garage fire.

The Steinbach Fire Department said in a press release Mondaythe fire had spread to the adjacent two-story house by the time they arrived on the scene.

Six people escaped the home without injury.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and officialsestimated the damage to be inthe $350,000 to $400,000 range.
