General Motors Co. is recalling more than 13,000 crossover vehicles in Canada to fix seatbelts that could fail in a crash, while Canadian Honda owners have been spared another recall issued by that company.

The Canadian recall of Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX models from 2011 is part of a larger one in the U.S. thatincludes about 100,000 vehicles.

The automaker said the seatbelt buckle anchor for the driver and front passenger could break apart in a crash, but said no crashes or injuries have been reported.

The company said it discovered the problem during testing in September.

Canadian customers will receive a letter on or before Jan 18. to notify them about bringing their car to their dealer for free repairs.

Meanwhile, Canadians are not affected by a recall issued by Honda on Friday.

The company recalled about 35,000 Passport SUVs to inspect rear suspension brackets that could detach and lead to a crash. Passports were never sold in Canada.

Canadian Honda owners were also spared from a global recall of 1.35 million Fit models for problems with headlights on Thursday.
