2 men in hospital after shots fired in Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP received a report that shots had been fired around 11:30 a.m. PT. Two men are now in hospital and RCMP are investigating the incident.

Shots fired on city's North Shore ... nearby elementary school on lockdown

Emergency crews were called to the area of Tannery Street and Joymar Drive at around 7:05 p.m. (CBC)

Kamloops RCMP received a report around 11:30 a.m.PTthat shots had been fired near Nelson Avenue on the city'sNorth Shore.

Shortly afterwards, a manwas found with injuries atNorthillsMall.

Two men are in hospital with injuries as a result, according to police.

KamloopsRCMPCplJodiShelkiesays, while the severity of the injuriesare unknown, RCMP believethey are not life threatening.

Police are investigating a residence at 217 Nelson Avenue. They say the residence was known to them.

As a precaution, police requested a nearby school, Arthur HattonElementary, be locked down while the situation unfolded. That request has since been lifted.

Police are requesting the public avoid the area surrounding Nelson Avenue as they continue to investigate.
