Police in Abbotsford, B.C., are investigating a suspected hit-and-run after the body of a male cyclist was found on Mt Lehman Road late Thursday night.

Police believe the incident happened between 10:30 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. PT on the 2000 block of Mt. Lehman Road.

The cyclist was travelling southbound when struck by a truck heading in the same direction.

"Given the amount of traffic in the area, it is likely that the collision took place only minutes before the [Abbotsford Police Department] received the call from the passers-by," said a statement released by Const. Ian MacDonald.

Police have not identified the cyclist, but said he appeared to be between 40 and 60 years old.

They are asking any witnesses to call 604-859-5225.
