Witnesses sought to daylight 'heinous' assault in Abbotsford

Police are hoping to thank and get a statement from the Good Samaritans who helped the victim of a serious assault on June 26.

Abbotsford Police are looking forthree people they say helped a 26-year-old woman who was the victim ofa 'heinous"daylight assault on June 26.

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man they say is well known to them. They also say there is no risk to the public.The victim and suspect knew each other.

Const. Ian MacDonald describes the assault as "serious" and "heinous."

He's asking for the public's help in identifying the three Good Samaritans who came to the woman's aid tothank them for their assistance and to see whether they might help further the investigation.

"They definitely did a good thing," he said.

MacDonald says a man and woman in their 50s or 60sinan SUVprovided the victim with food and beverages after finding her outside a hotel in the 32000 block of Marshall Road.

Another man, alsoin his 50s or 60s, subsequentlygave the victim a ride home in hisfour-door sedan.
