Missing hiker found dead in Manning Park

The body of Andriy Fendrikov was discovered Wednesday near Snass Mountain where he was last seen.

A 52-year-old man who went missing while hiking in Manning Park has been found dead near Snass Mountain, according to Vancouver police.

AndriyFendrikov was reported missing earlier this week when he didn't show up for work. Another hiker subsequently reported seeing him in Manning Park.

"This is a tragic ending, and certainly not the outcome we had hoped for," said Sgt. Steve Addison. "Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Andriy Fendrikov, and we're thankful to everyone who assisted in the search."

Fendrikov was described as an avid hiker with a lot ofbackcountry experience.

Vancouver police led the investigation becauseat the time of his disappearancethe last place he was seen was in Vancouver.
