The five kilometre race has "bacon stations" every kilometre with an extra helping at the finish line.

Finishers can pig out at an all-you-can-eat buffet of gorgeous, fragrant bacon and pancakes.

The 2nd annual event hosted by Reid and Associates Financial Services Ltd will donate proceeds tothe Kelowna Jaycees, a community group of young professionals.

OrganizerKevin Lavigne came up with the idea with a couple of friendsover a few drinks. Hedidn't actually think the idea would stick.

"Itstarted out as a joke. We thought maybe30 or 40 of our friends would show up.Then it blew up to a huge event."

The first bacon dash drew 300 runners.

This year there is all kinds of bacon, from carmel bacon popcorn to bacon muffins with bacon jam.

Lavigne wants people to just have a good time,"walk at your own pace, don't stress yourself out. There is lots of bacon."

Last year 315 pounds of bacon was served.
