Charges laid in Chilliwack murder of Dave Williams

A 34-year-old man has been charged in connection with the April shooting death of Dave Williams, Chilliwack RCMP said Thursday in a statement.

The 33-year-old father was gunned down, April 18, 2016 outside a residence in a housing complex at 46000 Princess Ave. He died at the scene.

Within days of the shooting, police arrested Daniel Fabas, 34, an associate of Williams, and held him in custody in connection withalleged firearms offences.

A four-month investigation has now led to charges of second degree murder being laid against Fabas, RCMP said.

In its statement,RCMP congratulated the public for its assistance.

"The help received from the public has not gone unnoticed as it played a key role in obtaining the murder charge that Mr. Fabas now faces," saidIHIT Cpl. MeghanFoster.

Williams girlfriend, who has since given birth, posted to social media how much she misses her boyfriend.
