'Chubby' corn snake apprehended in Victoria

A snake that escaped from its owners' guitar case during the Fernfest community celebration in Victoria over the weekend has been recaptured.

Non-venomous, hard-biting snake no longer on the lam

Corn snakes are not venomous, but do pack a powerful and painful bite, warn Victoria Police.

The missing1.7-metresnake that escaped from its owner'sguitar case during the Fernfest community celebration in Victoria over the weekend has been "safely located" according to Victoria Police.

The snake, which is named Snake, went missing Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Fernwood Road and Gladstone Avenue.

Police had warned the corn snake, although non-venomous,could "pack a powerful bite." Perhaps fortunately, the owner had advised police his pet waswell-fed and "a bit chubby."
