Couple at North Vancouver seniors home die of COVID-19

A wife and husbandliving at the Amica EdgemontVillage seniors care home in North Vancouver died of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to the facility'sgeneral manager.

In a letter to residents, Brian Browne said the couple passed away after earlier testing positive tests for coronavirus.

"The residents were a couple who lived in thesame suite, and had been isolated there since showing symptoms," said Browne.

A company spokesperson confirmed the pair were both in their 90s.

Browne's letter goes on to say thata staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on April 5 after showing symptoms a day earlier. Thatperson has been recovering at home with pay, according to Browne.

He said management is working to find outwhich other workerswere in contact with the sick staffer so they canbe sent for testing.

"Residents remain isolated in their rooms, and wecontinue to minimize the number of team members they come into contactwith," he said.

"It is a sad day at our residence. These residents were well-known andintegral members of our community, they will be greatly missed."

According to the company website, Amica operates homes in B.C., Alberta and Ontario and is Canadian owned.
