Highway 1 re-opens after fatal head-on crash near Kamloops, B.C.

Highway 1 has re-opened west of Kamloops, B.C., following a serious head-on crash that killed one person and injured four others.

4 other people injured, taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

A fatal collision closed Highway 1 just west of Kamloops, B.C. near the Cherry Creek gas station on Tuesday. (Drive B.C.)

Highway 1 has re-opened in both directions Tuesday night after one person was killed in a head-on collision west of Kamloops, B.C.

Police say the collision occurred near the Cherry Creek gas station just after 1:40 p.m. PT and involved two pickup trucks.

Investigators initially said earlier in the afternoon thatthere were five injured peoplebut later updated that information to state thatone of them, the driver of one of the trucks,had died at the scene.

The other truck had three passengers in addition to the driver.

The release said several police agencies and the B.C. Coroners Service areinvestigating.
