Pedestrian killed in collision with transit bus in Surrey: RCMP

RCMP say collision analysts are examining the cause of a fatal crash along 128th Street in Surrey on Sunday that left one pedestrian dead.

One pedestrian is dead after they were struck by a transit bus in Surrey on Sunday afternoon, RCMP say.

Officers were called to the collision scenein the 7600 block of 128thStreet at about 2:45 p.m. Efforts were made to save the victim, butthey were declared deceased at the scene.

In a statement Sunday, Surrey RCMP said collision analysts were examining the crash site and its criminal collision team is investigating the cause of the fatal incident.

A small stretch of 128th Street,between 76th and 76A avenues, remainedclosed in both directions Sunday afternoon, with police advisingdrivers to expect significant delays in the area.

"The closure will remain in effect for an undetermined amount of time while investigators process the scene," RCMP said.

Second collision in Surrey

Anothercollision happened in the city's South Surrey neighbourhood, involving two vehicles at around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, at the intersection of 184th Street and 32nd Avenue, according to Surrey RCMP.

Police say the driver of a Nissan involved in the collision was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The road was shut down for five hours while investigators worked to determine the circumstance surrounding the collision. It has since re-opened.
