Gang-related shooting in East Vancouver sends 1 man to hospital

A 33-year-old man who is known to police was found in an East Vancouver backyard last night with multiple gunshot wounds.

A 33-year-old man who is "well known to police" was found in an East Vancouver backyard last night with multiple gunshot wounds after what police are calling a gang-related shooting.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. PT, Vancouver police received multiple 911 calls of shots being fired near Oxford and Skeena Streets, in the Vancouver Heights neighbourhood.

Police arrived and found the wounded man in the backyard of a home. He was taken to hospital for surgery and is expected to survive.

Police are looking for witnesses and video as they continue to investigate the shooting. A motive has not been determined, but police believe it was gang-related. No arrests have been made.
