Late-night gunshots fired in Surrey

Surrey RCMP officers responded to reports that someone was firing a gun, just before 1 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say no obvious motive, or link to recent rash of gun violence

Police say an overnight shooting, in which nobody was injured, doesn't appear to be linked to a recent rash of gun violence in Surrey, B.C. (CBC)

Surrey RCMP officers responded to reports that someone was firing a gun, just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Police were called to 140 Street and 104 Avenue, in the Whalley area, where they found evidence confirmingthe gunshots.

Staff Sgt. Blair McColl said nobody was hurt, though "several to many shots" were fired.

McCollsaidone person was the source of all the gunshots.

Police said there wasno apparent motive for the gunfire, and it doesn'tappear to be linked to the recent rash of gun violence in Surrey, which has been connected to a drug turf war.
