1. Seniors home fire claims one life in Langley

A man helps an elderly resident escape a seniors home with his walker in Langley, after a fire broke out in the early morning hours on Apr. 12, 2017.

The fire claimed the life of one person and temporarily displaced dozens of others.

3. Furniture store erupts into flames in Burnaby

Fire crews prepare to battle massive flames after a vehicle fire quickly spread to a large furniture warehouse, destroying the large building on Kingsway in Burnaby in February.

4. Bodies of missing hikers recovered from Mount Harvey

Search and rescue personnel from across the Lower Mainland have resumed the search for a group of hikers who went missing near Lions Bay, B.C., on Saturday. (Gian-Paolo Mendoza/CBC)

Search and Rescue teams from all over the Lower Mainland converged on the village of Lions Bay to search for five hikers who went missing on Mount Harvey in February.

Searchers believe a cornice collapsed on the peak, sending the grouptumbling down the mountain's north face.

5. Downtown Eastside shooting is Vancouver's first homicide of 2017

6. Suspicious fire guts Vancouver heritage mansion

A large fire at an auto parts recycling yard on Mitchell Island sends a thick plume of black smoke into the night sky.

The yard was the site of another fire in January 2017.

9. Battle with large fire in Kerrisdalegoesovernight

Firefighters spent an entire night shift trying to contain a fire that levelled a strip of businesses in Vancouver's Kerrisdale neighbourhood in June. The fire left the neighbourhood in a thick haze the morning after.

10.Midnight revelry cut short afterpower outage in Yaletown

The typically busy Yaletown neighbourhood was mostly deserted by midnight, after a power outage knocked out electricity to most of the businesses. (Gian-Paolo Mendoza/CBC)

Restaurant workers rejoiced and midnight revellers were left in the darkafter some rogue balloons hit a power line in Yaletown, sparking a widespread outage in the bustling Downtown Vancouver district.Read more.
