Paris attacks prompt tweets and prayers from B.C.

As news of the devastating attacks in Paris reached B.C., residents shared memories and prayers for the City of Light.

Politicians, celebrities and ordinary citizens shared feelings of sadness and shock online about the tragedy.

Mayor Gregor Robertson posted a Facebook statement saying he would reach out to the mayor of Paris to offer "appropriate" assistance.

Robertson said the flag atop Vancouver's City Hall would be flying at half mast in solidarity with Paris.


B.C. Premier Christy Clarkposted a statement callingFranceone of "our closest friends and allies."

Many in Vancouver seemed to share in actor MarkRuffalo'ssentiment as his tweet trended across the city.
