Severely injured Terrace man saved by passing driver

Police say a man with severe neck wounds was airlifted to Vancouver after an incident last night on the Skeena River bank in Terrace.

Terrace RCMP are searching for a suspect after a50-year-oldman was severely injured Wednesday nightnear the banks of the Skeena River.

Police say the man suffered a severe neck injury.

The man was bleeding profusely, but managed to climb a grassy trail from the riverbank to a nearby bridge.

A passing motorist stopped to help and call emergency responders.

Paramedicsrushed the man to local hospital, but he lost consciousness before he could speak with investigators.

The man was airlifted to Vancouver hospital because of the severity of his injuries.

"We're still piecing together what happened," said Terrace RCMP Const.Angela Rabut.

"We'relooking for witnesses to come forward to helpidentify a suspect," she said.

RCMP and forensic identification officers closed off the area aroundthe bridge asthey searched for clues.
