Vancouver police looking for high-risk sex offender at large

Vancouver police say they are looking for ahigh-risk sex offender wanted on a country-wide arrest warrant.

According to the VPD, 40-year-old Christopher Schafer is unlawfully at large after failingto return to his residential correctional facility in Vancouver at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Police said he has been living inthe facility since being released from custody on July 10.

Schafer has a history of breaking-and-entering, sexual offences, uttering threats, robbery and assaulting a peace officer, police said.

Schafer is described as:

• Five feet and eight inches tall;
• 168 pounds with black hair and brown eyes;
• Has the words "Wanda Lee" tattooed on the left side of his neck.
