Outgoing B.C NDP leader cautious about core changes to party

As the B.C.NDPheads towards a leadership contest, outgoing leader Adrian Dix says questions about its policies and priorities need to be handled carefully.

"We don't need a second [B.C.] Liberal party," says Dix.

While Dix agrees the party needs to improve to win, he does not think it should be at the expense of its core values.

"We need to be proud of who we are and what we stand for," he says.

"We need to adjust our answers to the challenges of the times, which in some cases are new and challenging realities."

If the B.C.NDPtakes a new directionwill depend largely on decisions made at its upcoming convention in November--where a new executive and new leader could be chosen.
