A wildfire is causing delays on a portion of Highway 3 west of Osoyoosin B.C.'s Okanagan region.

The road between Old Richter Pass Roadand Lambert Court. was closed Thursday afternoon. It has since reopened but DriveBC says to expect delays and limited visibility dueto smoke from the Eagle Bluff wildfire, which putthe community under evacuation alerts and orders after itcrossed the Canada-U.S. border from the state of Washington on July 30.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says the wildfire is now 30 square kilometres and continues to burn out of control west of Osoyoos, which has a population of just over 5,000 people, along with the many tourists it hosts at this time of year.

The town is open to tourists, but visitors are urged to be prepared to leave at a moment's notice.
