Thieves drill holes in gas tanks to empty them around Banff

RCMP in Banff, Alta. are warning the public to be mindful of leaving vehicles in secluded areas for long periods of time after complaints of thieves drilling holes in fuel tanks to drain them.

RCMP in Banff, Alta. are warning the public to be mindful of leaving vehicles in secluded areas for long periods of time after motorists reported returning to find their fuel tanks empty and holes drilled into them.

The reported thefts happened between June 13 and 21 at the Redearth Creek and Sunshine Village parking lots.

Banff is about 125 kilometres west of Calgary.
