A Calgary courtroom heard it was the third round trip driving from Mexico.

Fehrtold border officials at the time that he had been forced into it and cartel members had threatened his wife and four daughters.

The 38-year-old from Peace River was visibly upset in court Friday afternoon knowing that he would be taken away from his family.

Fehr did offer an apology, which a Calgary judge considered to be "heartfelt" and a mitigating factor in his sentence.
