Alberta voters get 'mistake' robocall from NDP candidate in New Brunswick

The NDP has apologized after a robocall fromone of its candidates in New Brunswick was mistakenly sent todozens of Alberta residents, urging them to vote inadvance polls.

"It was confusing," said Airdrie resident Tricia Pearson, who came home to a voicemail from Jason Godin, the NDP candidate in the New Brunswick riding of Acadie-Bathurst.

"He spoke French first, which is kind of strange in Western Canada," said Pearson, who has no connection to Godin's riding, five provinces away.

"It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the NDP, especially in Alberta," said Pearson. "I certainly have concerns for the people in his riding."

The NDP says the wrong riding name was selected when the message blast was sent over the weekend.

"In pressing send, a mistake was made and we apologize for that," said NDP press secretary George Soule in Ottawa.

Soule said the mistake was caught before the voicemail went out to the entire riding of Banff-Airdrie.

The election will be heldMonday, Oct. 19.
