Amber Alert cancelled after Calgary child found safe

An Amber Alert issued byCalgary police on Thursday evening has been cancelled and the child in question issafe, police said in a release issued just past 11 p.m.

Calgary police previously issued alert shortly after 6 p.m.

An Amber Alert issued byCalgary police on Thursday evening has been cancelled and the child in question issafe, police said in a release issued just past 11 p.m.

The alert was issued shortly past 6 p.m.after the Calgary Police Service reported that a two-year-old boy had been taken by his mother.

Morethan 70 CPS members were involved in the search, police said.

"Resources were called in from all across the service including patrol members, covert resources, tactical officers, and crisis negotiators, which ultimately led investigators to safely locate the mother and son," the releasesaid.

The CPS domestic violence team is still investigating.

Amber Alerts are issued when a child, or adult with a proven mental or physical disability, is abducted and is at risk of harm.
