Banff RCMP find $1.4M worth of drugs in Calgary man's car

Breaking the speed limit has landed a 22-year-old Calgary man in court, thanks to the $1.4 million of drugs found in his car.

Breaking the speed limit has landed a 22-year-old Calgary man in court,thanks to the $1.4 million of drugs found in his car.

RCMP pulled over the speeding vehicle on the Trans-CanadaHighway on June 14 and detained the driver while a Parks Canada drug-sniffing dog searched for contraband.

Inside the vehicle was eight grams of marijuana, 23,860 grams of MDMA and $3,900 cash. RCMP said the estimated street value of the contraband was $1,431,600.

The 22-year-old was arrested for possession with the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He appeared in court on June 20 and was released on $20,000 cash bail. He's due back in court on July 20.
