Bowness High School shifts to online learning Monday after COVID-19 outbreak

A COVID-19 outbreak at Bowness High School in northwest Calgary is causing all grades to transition to online classes starting Monday.

The Calgary Board of Education sent a letterto parents Friday detailingthat the schoolwas placedon outbreakstatus for the provincial COVID-19 map.

According to the provinces' website, an outbreak refers to schools with five to ninecases.

The CBE saidclasses will be held online until March.16 and will impact around 1,184 students in grades 10-12.

Students will continue their coursework through a variety of virtual classroom programs but will not be able to transfer to Hub online learning, the CBEsaid in the letter.

The province considers an outbreak investigation completedwhen there have been no new confirmed cases in the school for 28 days.
