Calgary bus incident being investigated as possible hate crime

Calgary police are looking into an alleged assault on a city bus driver as a possible hate crime.

OnSept. 3, a woman boarded a bus that was headed south on 18th Street near 69th Avenue S.E. It happened about 11:40 a.m.

Police say the woman became verbally abusive toward the driver soon after getting on the bus, allegedly yelling racial slurs.

Thedriver then pulled over and told the woman to get off.

She did, but not before throwing a slush drink at the driver, police say.

The woman then fled.

She is described as Indigenous, five foot four with a medium build. She isbelieved to be in her 20s.She was wearing a pink hoodie and black pants at the time.
