Calgary couple face drug trafficking charges after sting operation

A five-month long investigation into a suspected cocaine and methamphetamine operation has resulted in the arrest of a Calgary couple and multiple charges, police said in a Monday release.

A five-month long investigation into a suspected cocaine and methamphetamine operation has resulted in the arrest of a Calgary couple and multiple charges, police said in a Monday release.

Between late May and September, police observed a suspected trafficking operation connected to a house on Shawbrooke Circle in the southwest community of Shawnessy.

A search warrant led to the discovery of 62 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of methamphetamine and cash, with a combined value of almost $12,000, along with tools and gear typically associated with trafficking operations, police said.

Donald Wilfred Goodwin, 62, and Karen Ruth Goodwin, 54, of Calgary were arrested Wednesday and face charges including cocaine trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime.
