Calgary police believe a domestic dispute spurred a man to ram his truck into a garage, attack a home with a crowbarandassault three police officers.

A 28-year-old Calgary man appeared in courtTuesday on 13 charges, including assault, hit-and-run andmischief causing danger to life.

Police were called to a home in the southeast community of McKenzie Towne on Sunday night.

They say a manplowedhis truck into the detached garage then got out and used a crowbar to smash the walls andwindows, and destroyseveral appliances throughoutthe home.

Everyone inside the house made it out safely.

Police followed the truck to an area nearDeerfootTrail andBarlowTrail southeast, and tried to stop the driver. He reversed into apolice cruiserbefore driving off again.

The truck was then tracked down at a gas station in Huntington Hills. Officers and police dogs followed the suspect to a home in the 1000 block ofBerkleyDrive N.W.

He assaulted and spat in the face of two police officers and assaulted a paramedic in the arrest. All injuries were minor.

A hunting knife believed to belong to the suspect was also found nearby.

"Certainly, it's concerning when an offender shows up in a fit of violent rage and does this type of damage to the residence," saidInsp. Keith Cain.

Cain said police believe the incident is a case of domestic violence. The suspect used to be in a relationship with a person who was inside the home at the time it was vandalized.
