Calgary police are classifying the death of an 18-month-old toddler at a southwest dayhome Nov. 12 as "undetermined" so the homicide unit is investigating as is protocol.

The girl was rushed from the dayhome in the 100 block of Silverado Ridge Cres. S.W. to hospital in medical distress but died a short time later.

The father has taken to Facebook thanking friends and family but saying the death could have been prevented.

That post is filling up with words of sorrow and condolence from friends.

Police say determining the cause of death could take months.
