It's a busy weekend for arts and entertainment in Calgary and CBC's Susan Holzman has some great options for you.

#Stampede2017

The Calgary Stampede officially kicks off Friday and there's no shortage of activities at the park. One of the highlights is the Grandstand Show and every year they seem to keep upping the ante. For the past few years they've had high-flying drummers and motorcycle stunts and the creative director says this year promises to be another exciting one.

You can find more information and tickets right here.

Film festival

The Calgary Stampede isn't the only festival coming up. WILD: Fabricating a Frontier also kicks off Friday. It includes films, performances and talks about our national identity, colonialism and migration. The festival gets underway at various locations around the city, including the Globe Cinema.

The festival runs from July 7 to July 15 and you can get all the details right here.

Improv

The Kinkonauts are an improv troupe celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and they're showcasing their brand of comedy in a unique way, and just in time for Stampede.

It's called The Good, the Bad and the Improv and audiences will get to experience two improvised westerns. It starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Inglewood's Alexandra Centre Rose Room.

Tickets are available at the door and online and they're only $10.

Family-friendly

Calaway Park is not quite as busy during Stampede compared to the rest of the summer. This weekend the park is launching Family Fun Friday Nights. The park is open an extra two hours every Friday during July, so that's 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
