The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo will go ahead this year, but it's being postponed until September and only 25,000 tickets will be sold.

Organizers said in a release on Tuesday that the popular convention will be mounted as a "limited edition," Sept. 10-12, at the BMO Centre on the Stampede grounds.

"Expect the excitement of our regular event, but to make sure this is safe, this event will be limited to 25,000 tickets, and once they're gone, they're gone," the release said.

Tickets that had already been sold will be honoured in September.

Organizers said they will release full health and safety guidelines 30 days before the show.

"As circumstances evolve, we will continue to follow official government and local authority guidance and make updates to our operations and safety plans," the Calgary Expo said.

To thank health-care workers for their extraordinary efforts during the pandemic, admission will be free for them on Sept. 10, Healthcare Heroes Day, with details to be announced in August.

Tickets go on sale June 22 at 10 a.m. MT.
