Calgary man accused of luring, sexually assaulting teen

A Calgary man accused of luring a 14-year-old girl and having a sexual relationship with her was arrested last week, police say.

Satinderjit Mangat, 37, was picked up by the Southern Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit Jan. 15 after an investigation started last month.

Police allege he met the girl on Facebook last summer and initiated a secret sexual relationship with her.

The victims parents contacted police in Decemberafter they discovered explicit chats between their daughter and the man.

Investigators believe the man who also uses the online alias Sam Pat had additional victims and are asking them to come forward.

The accused was charged with numerous offences including sexual assault, luring a child under the age of 16 and making child pornography.

Mangat was released on several conditions and his next court appearance is set for Feb. 18.
