Here are the Calgary-area Olympians to cheer on at the Winter Games

Want to know who to cheer for now that the 2018 Winter Olympics have kicked offin South Korea? Here's a list of more than two dozen athletes on Team Canada who call the Calgary area home.

OK, we'll be honest: many of them might consider somewhere else their actual hometown, but live in the Calgary area to train since it's such a hub for winter sports.

The opening ceremoniesgot underway Friday morning in Pyeongchang. (South Korea is 16 hours ahead of Alberta.) Figure skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir carried Canada's flag into the Olympic stadium.

A total of 227 Canadian athletes are competing in the 102 events, hoping to better the 25 medals won at the 2014 Games in Sochi, Russia 10 gold, 10 silver and five bronze.

There are more than twodozen athletes from Calgary and the surrounding area on Team Canada,including:
