Calgary police investigating head-on collision resulting in serious injuries

Two people are in hospital, one with life-threatening injuries

Two people are in hospital after ahead-on collisionoccurred in the early morning hours of April 17, Calgary police said in a statement.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, a Honda HRVthat was travelling north on 14thStreet N.W. crossed into the southbound lane near the north end of the MewataBridge, striking a Nissan Altima head on.

Both the driver and the front seat passenger of the Honda were transported to hospital due to their injuries.Police said the driver, a 28-year-old female, suffered minor injuries, while the front seat passenger, a 36-year-old male, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, a 23-year-old male, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the accident by EMS.

Police saidthey are currently investigating the collision and that they believe alcohol could befactor.
