Calgary victim of 2007 stabbing rampage remembered

The family and friends of Jackie Crazybull, the only victim killed during a 2007 stabbing rampage, gathered Sunday to remember her and call for investigations into her death.

Jacqueline "Jackie" Crazybull, 44, died of a single stab wound after an attack at the corner of 17th Avenue and 11th Street S.W. in July 2007. She was one of five people attacked over the course of the night by suspects who police said used a ruse to lure them into conversation but Crazybull was the only fatality.

Supporters met Sunday for a walk near the site of the attack.

The walk, called Justice for Jackie, is being planned as an annual event and will not only honour Crazybull but also the more than 600 missing and murdered Aboriginal women across Canada.

No charges laid in stabbings

Organizers believe police know the identity of the killers, but so far, no one has been charged.

Police initially released video surveillance from a nearby Mac's Convenience Store on 12thStreetand 17th Avenue S.W. that they believed might have information that could help with the investigation.

Police did not call the men in the surveillance footage suspects, however.

Witnesses at the time gave police a description of three or four black men between 20 and 30 years of age in a light-coloured, newer-model sedan.
